Out in the American southern states where the temperatures get much higher in the summer, there is a tradition of slow roast cookouts typically enjoyed outside amongst friends and family. In these states there is a long culinary history of barbecue dining – which differs to a British barbecue – and plenty of heat and flavour. Think Louisiana hot peppers, Carolina Reapers, etc, and you can see how spice plays an influence on the barbecue dining of the southern states.
At Hog Roast Edgware we don’t typically go in for spicy roasts, but with our Southern Slow Roasts we do bring the heat just a little more than you would get with our signature hog roast. We want to add some extra smoke and spice to our dining for those that think they can handle it. Taking a leaf out of American southern dining, we replicate the cookout style of catering by serving up traditional American slow roasts. You have delicious dishes such as our Texan 24-hour beef brisket, Louisiana sticky pork ribs, cajun spiced whole roast chickens, BBQ pork butt. A huge part of the southern cookout is the sides that help to cool down the dining just a tad. Dishes like creamy potato salad, the classic all-American mac and cheese, corn cobettes with butter, fries, salad, and our crunchy Memphis style slaw.
But the real heat in our Southern Slow Roast comes from the hot sauces and the barbecue sauces that we offer as an accompaniment to your dining.
